Friendly, clean, cute romantic atmosphere. Sushi very fresh and delicious unique rolls.

Simple some of the best sushi for the price i have experienced. It competes with the best i have had. It is a quiet and cozy atmosphere with very nice wait staff.

The sushi was great. The atmosphere was perfect and great for conversation. The staff were friendly. Def recommending to family in Orange. My bf even said, we need to find a place like this in SF.

Decent food but a little bit pricey

My husband and I have frequented Kaori for about seven years. The food is delightful and authentic. The fish and sea fare is incredibly fresh and full of flavor. (My husband won't bother with sushi anywhere else, as it always let's him down compared to Kaori.) We hope this joy of a restaurant stays here for many, many more years! Thank you Kaori, for years of great meals, and thank you Gino!

Cozy authentic place to enjoy fresh fish and a cold beer

Found this place last year and if has been my husband's and my to-go sushi place ever since. The sushi is great. It doesn't only look pretty but also tastes delicious! The meat is always fresh and the portion is very generous. You can just feel it melt in your mouth. The ambiance there is nice too. It's never noisy so you can actually enjoy the food and the conversation at the same time. Definitely would recommend it to any sushi lovers!

Great sushi! The freshest, cleanest fish i have had anywhere in orange county. The chefs are amazing! A great place for a day or a casual business meeting. It is a smaller size place so expect a wait on a friday or Saturday night, but well worth it!

I genuinely like this place and have returned several times already. The atmosphere is calming, they always play very good music as well as sports up on the television sets that surround the sushi bar. The staff is very polite, on top of things, and professional which is always appreciated greatly. I've had a variety of items on the menu and the dishes are always presented very well and taste even better! I would definitely recommend coming to this place ☺

Great Sushi, SLOOOOOOOOOWWWWW ServiceWe got here at about 7 PM on Saturday night. Got inside the restaurant, no hello even with eye contact. I wait to be seated. The hostess lady doesn't acknowledge my presence, or tell me what I should be doing. I was puzzled but waited patiently as other customers also grumbled about what we are supposed to do. I went to the lady and asked her if there is a waitlist I need to put my name on, oh what do you know? There is one! I am listed and wait 30 minutes. About 7:40 pm I am seated. I wait 20 minutes to get even a water. Two waitress girls are running around serving everyone while hostess lady/manager can't handle even just the seating of customers. Anyways the complaint is with the hostess lady. Our poor server was sweating doing everything while the orders took FOREVER!! I left after 10PM!!! Horrible management. but... Sushi was good.

The sushi was amazing here!! Super fresh and prepared in a manner that shows the owner really keeps up on trends and technique. Definetly going back there!

Slow service but good food a little high priced

The quality of the fish is amazing. I am definitely making this a monthly lunch spot at least. We started with the crispy rice which was fried to a crunchy perfection. The spicy tuna on top was good and spicy but not overpowering. Jalapeño peppers were delicious. We asked for the sushi chef's recommendation, and she said black cod was as her favorite. It was amazing! The hot sake was dangerously smooth. Overall the staff was attentive, the fish was fresh, and it is definitely worth coming back soon.

Solid sushi, especially the salmon. Great ambience and music. Also love that the waitress asked if we wanted straws instead of automatically putting them in our cups of water.

What a excellent experience I had here today. Tucked away in this little food zone is this authentic Japanese food. The decor was nice, made me feel comfy like I was transported to Japan. The miso soup was super tasty. The fish was sooo fresh. I got the Bento box with a crunchy roll. I couldn't finish it but I'm going to have my left overs for dinner. I think anyone who eats here will be completely satisfied with their decision. The prices are right, the food is super delicious and super fresh.my son got the spicey tuna, he really liked it.

My go to place when I’m craving sushi! Owner Gino is amazing with his service. I enjoy sitting at the bar and ordering food non stop! It’s a small place so the service could feel a bit slow. It also gets packed so make reservations! Lunch time is usually not that crowded, but during dinner time it’s a full house. Make sure to come when they open again at dinner time to avoid waiting!

It's fine. I just don't like that, like many "Japanese" restaurants they serve the miso soup first. I keep forgetting to say, bring it with the meal.

Really amazing sushi place. I've been coming here for.a few years now, it's not overpriced and just simply a really good place to go and have your basic and a good sake or Japanese beers.

Competent is the best way to describe this place. They are not bad but just not very good. Nothing stands out. They try to please by giving thicker cuts of fish but without proper consideration for balance. Good food should be a balancing act. Fish is fresh. But once again nothing stands out--just another competent sushi restaurant. I did not order their premium package (or "chefs choice") so not sure what offerings there may be at that spectrum. (I did try the premium chirashi but that created no fireworks for me--it's just more of the same fish as regular chirashi rather than more premium fish). But that's really besides the point as whatever was ordered was gauged on its own merit and worth.

Fresh fish, good service

This place will ruin all other sushi places for you because you will be thinking about how great the food is here in comparison. Gino serves fantastic, fresh sushi and sashimi with expert precision, but he also crafts other really unique dishes that you won't find anywhere else. (Red snapper in olive oil, Crispy rice, and Dynamite Oysters to name a few). If there's a special on the board, it will not disappoint, and when in doubt, a sushi sampler or chef's choice is a good call.

The staff is friendly and never in a rush to get you out the door. The menu has excellent choices and those choices are further more complimented by weekly specials. Gino is an incredible sushi chef and goes out of his way to ensure that all ingredients are fresh. Prepare to spend a good amount of time enjoying the selections, staff and environment.

First time with a dear friend. I’m always very guarded when it comes to sushi. This place such a pleasant surprise. Being told what fish was fresh as of this morning was terrific. Beautiful presentation. Simple and delicious. The halibut and blue fin were to die for. And, for a nice fun appetizer combination, get the crispy rice and the veggie gyoza. Heaven, just pure heaven. Like I said, it was my first time there...but it definitely will not be my last! Great service, friendly people. Kudos, well done!!!!! 🍱🍣🤩☮️
